Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1 John 4:1  (New King James Version)
My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
Proverbs 3:11-12 (Read all of Proverbs 3)
New King James Version
Yes, in the way of Your judgments, O Lord, we have waited for You; The desire of our soul is for Your name And for the remembrance of You.  Isaiah 26:8  (New King James Version)
This is by far the best explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation I have  ever read. His reference to past history is accurate and clear. Not long, easy to understand, and well worth the read.  The author of this email is Dr. Emanuel Tanay, a well known and well respected psychiatrist.

A German's View on Islam
A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When  asked how many German people  were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide  our attitude toward fanaticism. "Very few people were true  nazis," he said, "but many enjoyed  the return of German pride, and many more were  too busy to care. I was  one  of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority  just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned  us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family  lost  everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my  factories."

We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is  the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to
live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel  better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history... It  is the fanatics who march.. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting  wars worldwide... It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or  tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire  continent in an Islamic wave... It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder or honour-kill... It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque... It  is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and  homosexuals... It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard quantifiable fact is that the peaceful  majority, the 'silent  majority,' is cowed and extraneous.Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just  wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed  to kill a staggering 70 million people. The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a war mongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget Rwanda  which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'? History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up,  because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too  late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on  and on!  Let us hope that thousands, world wide, read this and think about it, and send it on before it's too late.

                                                 Financial Crisis Crushing Britain
What does the future hold for Britain in the wake of the current financial crisis?
by Melvin Rhodes

British newspapers do not normally quote Scripture, so it surprised me to see two prominent and highly respected British writers calling for the introduction of the biblical year of jubilee.

According to the Old Testament statute, the jubilee was the year of release, held once every 50 years—release, that is, from debt. Everybody's debts were cancelled and economic life began all over again.

Niall Ferguson, a historian who was born in Scotland but now teaches at both Harvard and Oxford, was the first to mention the jubilee. In a full-page article titled "The Age of Obligation" (Financial Times, Dec. 18, 2008) Ferguson wrote: "In the Old Testament Book of Leviticus, God commands the children of Israel to observe a jubilee every 50 years. Nowadays we tend to associate the word with celebrations of royal anniversaries such as Queen Elizabeth's golden jubilee in 2002. But the biblical conception of a jubilee was more precise: that of a general cancellation of debts.

"This point is spelt out in Deuteronomy: 'Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbor shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord's release.'

"Such injunctions may strike the modern reader as utopian. How could any sophisticated society function if all debts were cancelled twice a century… Yet we know that such general cancellations of debt really did happen in the ancient world. In 1788 BC, for example, about 500 years before the time of Moses, King Rim-Sin of Ur issued a royal edict declaring all loans null and void, wiping out some of history's earliest known moneylenders."

Ferguson also showed that a cancellation of debts is not unknown in modern times. In 1923 hyperinflation led to the collapse of the German currency, thereby wiping out all paper denominated debts.

"In the end, the only way out of all this global debt may prove to be a biblical debt Jubilee. Creditors are not going to like that," concludes Ambrose Evans-Pritchard of London 's Daily Telegraph ("Biblical Debt Jubilee May Be the Only Answer," Jan. 19, 2009). Evans-Pritchard was writing in the midst of a renewed banking crisis severely affecting the United Kingdom.

There seems no end to the international financial crisis, with more twists and turns than a Hollywood thriller.

"As one bail-out succeeds another at ever more inflated price tags, rescue fatigue is becoming palpable. People are bewildered, fearing that good money is being thrown after bad," wrote Evans-Pritchard. Many are fearful that the frequent bailouts are mortgaging their children's future, as all the money will have to be paid back sometime, with interest.

There is also fear of hyperinflation comparable to that of Germany's Weimar Republic during the 1920s. With a greater historical awareness, Germany has been more reluctant to bail out banks and other private companies.

Germans expressed consternation when, following the near collapse of the financial system caused by bad loans, then U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson expressed the need to get the banks lending to people again! Yet good sense begs the question: If excessive borrowing caused the problem in the first place, then how could further borrowing be the solution?
Britain particularly susceptible

Although Wall Street has long been the world's biggest stock market, London has remained the world's biggest financial center. This has had a negative side. With the collapse of the international financial system, London has suffered more than New York . The British economy, more dependent on jobs in the financial sector, is now in its first recession since the early 1990s and continues to deteriorate. The British currency, the pound, has lost about a third of its value in the last 12 months.

It's hard to believe this is happening when one considers that the United Kingdom was the birthplace of the modern international financial system and also of the industrial revolution that was so much a part of the country's rise to greatness.

Even after World War II, when the United States replaced Britain as the world's major power center, the British pound was the alternate reserve currency, used in international trade. The sterling era continued for 25 years. These were countries, mostly former British colonies that continued to trade in British pounds rather than U.S. dollars, banking their assets with the Bank of England.

But then Britain changed course, pursuing closer ties with continental Europe at the expense of traditional ties with the nations of the Commonwealth. It was a total reversal in British foreign policy. Ever since the Reformation over 400 years earlier during the time of Henry VIII, Britain's policy had been to turn its back on Europe and concentrate on building trade and security ties with its colonies and former colonies around the world. Only when the balance of power in Europe was threatened did the country get involved in its own backyard, against despots like Napoleon, Kaiser Wilhelm II and Hitler.

Following its entry into what is now the European Union, British manufacturing nose-dived, with the country increasingly reliant on its banking sector and North Sea oil. Now the chickens have come home to roost.

Peter Garnham, in his recent Financial Times article "Jim Rogers: 'UK Has Nothing to Sell,'" summarized that investor's view of the situation: "The pound is a currency with no underpinning and should fall against the dollar and the euro, says Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings and co-founder of the Quantum Fund with George Soros.

"He says his view reflects the UK's dire economic situation: 'It's simple, the UK has nothing to sell.'

"Mr Rogers says the two main pillars of support for sterling have been North Sea oil and the strength of the UK financial services sector, in particular, the City of London's role.

"But Mr Rogers says just as North Sea oil is running out, so London's standing as a major financial centre is set to suffer.

"'I don't think there is a sound UK bank now, at least, if there is one I don't know about it,' he says.

"'The City of London is finished, the financial centre of the world is moving east. All the money is in Asia. Why would it go back to the west? You don't need London,' says Mr Rogers.

"Mr Rogers thinks the pound is more vulnerable than the dollar or the euro. He says the UK housing market is arguably in a worse state than that of the US, given pockets of strength in the US and prices that are sliding across the board in the UK.

"Meanwhile, he says, the UK is in worse shape economically than the eurozone, where most countries are not big debtors and do not run huge trade deficits…

"The controversial comments from the investor and author came as fresh evidence emerged that the UK's economy is falling deeper into recession" (Jan. 21, 2009, emphasis added).

Britain, like the United States and other governments, is doing what it can in bailing out the banks, but it may not be enough.

"Taken together the rescues may make the difference between global recession and a deeper slump that causes mass unemployment and social turmoil, perhaps destroying the open global order we take for granted," warned Evans-Pritchard. History shows that mass unemployment can lead to social turmoil, riots and even revolution. The rise of fascism and communism in Europe followed both. Democracy could easily be the victim of any prolonged slump.

Riots in Iceland, Latvia and Greece show the frustrations of many young people faced with a seemingly hopeless future. "Many young people live with the unbearable knowledge that there is no future," wrote Roger Boyes ("Protests Tip of Iceberg as Europe Braces for Chaos," The Australian, Jan. 23, 2009).
Anglo-American vs. German model

During the first wave of the banking crisis in the autumn, the German finance minister spoke of the end of the Anglo-American financial system. Increasingly, it is becoming apparent that there are two models in the Western world with two distinctly different approaches to solving the current crisis.

The United States and Britain are throwing vast amounts of money at banks and other corporations, trying to save them from insolvency. The Germans, meanwhile, are much more cautious, remembering the historic lesson that overspending by governments can soon lead to hyperinflation and total collapse. This was a major cause of the collapse of the democratic Weimar Republic that ruled Germany between World War I and Hitler's rise to power.

Germans are proud of their economic model, which was set up in Germany amidst the ruins caused by World War II. Taking what was believed to be the best of Anglo-American capitalism, they incorporated the traditional German social market model that required more state involvement but emphasized taking care of everyone.

"The idea they came up with was the 'social market' and its architect was a future Chancellor, Ludwig Erhard.

"The concept was very simple: West Germany would have capitalism with a market economy, but the government would provide a significant amount of regulation to ensure fair play; much more regulation than in Anglo-Saxon capitalism, the system which had developed in Britain .

"Over the years, the social market has been modified, updated, and sometimes even questioned. But the system that fuelled Germany's post-war economic miracle has not only survived: with the global economy in collapse, many Germans are hailing it as the only show in town.

"In recent weeks, an ideological row has erupted between supporters of the social market and proponents of Anglo-Saxon capitalism.

" Germany is facing its worst recession since World War II and many Germans blame that on the under-regulated and over-risky financial systems of countries like Britain and the US .

"They believe it was those economies which triggered the credit crunch that dragged the global economy down the tube.

"On 14 January, the head of the German trades' union federation Michael Sommer vented his fury. He raged against 'brutal, casino capitalism.'

"'The Anglo-Saxon economic model,' he declared, 'had blown it and would disappear.' It would be replaced, he predicted, 'by Germany's socially regulated and socially responsible version of capitalism'" (Steve Rosenberg, "Germany's Orderly Social Market," BBC News, Jan. 19, 2009).

The BBC report continued:

" Germany had no housing bubble waiting to burst, Germans were not seduced by credit to the extent that people in Britain, the US or Spain were.

"You can see why Germany's finance minister has been so quick to defend Germany's way of doing things—and to criticise Britain.

"Of course, no system is perfect. Germany's unemployment rate is higher than Britain's.

"The German economy is forecast to suffer just as badly as Britain's.

"The German car industry is taking a big hit. But few Germans are casting doubt on their system, on the social market.

"As the German proverb declares: 'Order is half of life.'"

Clearly, there are two quite different models here. The German model is based on greater government regulation, more centralization. This is in conflict with the Anglo-American model with its greater emphasis on individual responsibility. Yet in spite of this clear distinction, the British have been pursuing a closer relationship with the continental Europeans for 40 years. To join the EU, they had to turn their backs on the former dominions of the British Commonwealth—Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, nations that had fought for them in two world wars and countless other conflicts.
God's Advice

The Old Testament prophetic book of Hosea is a message for the modern descendants of Ephraim, the multitude (or Commonwealth) of nations prophesied in Genesis 48. A great deal of the prophecy in the book is still to be fulfilled, including a prophecy about the fall of Ephraim, Israel and Judah at the same time, something that never happened in the ancient world (Hosea 5:5-7).

Included in the book is a prophecy about Ephraim (Britain) continually pursuing an unwise relationship with a great power to the east, which today is being fulfilled in the German-led European Union. "Ephraim feeds on the wind, and pursues the east wind" (Hosea 12:1). This is a big mistake that will ultimately contribute to the nation's downfall.

In addition to economic threats, Britain may soon find itself stripped of its special relationship with the United States. "Barack Obama Plans to Make US Relationship With Britain Less Special Than Before" ran a headline in The Daily Telegraph on Jan. 17, 2009. "Barack Obama will play down Britain's importance and cast it as merely 'one of the crowd' of countries with which America has a special relationship, sources close to the incoming president have warned," reported Tim Shipman from Washington.

The British government recently signed on to the European treaty that will result in an even closer European Union, with a single president and a single foreign policy. Realizing its growing economic weakness, and the inevitability of a lessening of the tie with the United States as America concentrates on her own problems, Britain is set to move even closer to Europe. With its currency weakened and its economy deteriorating, the United Kingdom may even be forced into switching to the euro, thereby further losing its economic independence.

British people a century ago would never have dreamed they could be in this mess. At the time they were the global superpower, ruling over a quarter of the world's people in an empire "upon which the sun never set." Their rise to greatness began in the upheaval of the Protestant Reformation, and their zeal for God and the Bible contributed greatly to their rise.

That same Bible now offers an alternative solution to Britain's problems: "O Israel, return to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity" (Hosea 14:1).

To trace the history and prophetic significance of Britain's biblical identity, see our carefully researched booklet The United States and Britain in Bible Prophecy. WNP

Foreclosure Protesters Target Executives' Homes

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10...

In the superexclusive neighborhoods in Westchester County, N.Y., things don't get very loud or crazy too often. Which is why it definitely got the neighbors' attention on Sunday when a housing group brought in 50 van-loads and two tour buses full of upset homeowners.

Targeting Executives

About 300 homeowners with bullhorns marched past a police cruiser, up the driveway and to the front door of the house where Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack lives.

"John! Where are you, John?" one protester called up to the castle-like stone walls of the house. Bruce Marks is the housing advocate behind what he calls a "predators tour."

"This guy, he has a net worth of over $400 million," Marks says. "Look at his house. He gets lost in his own house. It's so outrageous."

Marks, who is with the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, is singling out big Wall Street executives personally to try to pressure them to do more to help homeowners facing foreclosure.

"While Americans are losing their homes by the millions, he's living in the lap of luxury here in his beautiful house, isolated — and he thought he was safe," Marks says. "Well, it's Sunday, and it's family day, and we're bringing our families to his family."

The protesters also went to a hedge-fund manager's house, where they dumped a couch and a bunch of old furniture.

Bruce Marks (left), of the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, is taking the fight to the homes of bank industry executives in New York and Connecticut. With him is Nicholas Fresolone, a corrections officer from New Jersey, who has so far been unable to persuade his bank to lower the interest rate on his mortgage.
                                                         The masters of commerce

In the end the merchants will make this system, symbolically named Babylon the Great (Revelation 17:5), function. Their trade will include "merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet,... every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble... fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men" (Revelation 18:12-13).

Today, as some of the economies of Asia totter on the brink of collapse, it is appropriate that we reflect on how greed will dramatically affect the future of mankind. We have no way of knowing the precise time when it will happen, but the Bible reveals that at some point a general breakdown of the world's economy will trigger a massive rethinking of social, political and economic assumptions.

Out of the chaos of that time a clever and powerful political "beast" will emerge with vast military and economic powers. For a short time his economic policies will lead some to revel in their wealth and power.

But this system will succeed only because opposition will be smashed. Those who will not submit to this economic system will be excluded or killed (Revelation 13:15-18).
                                                          The religious connection

But this system embodies much more than its sociopolitical aspects. It also has strong religious support. John introduces "another beast" that, in some ways, resembles a lamb but speaks "like a dragon" (verse 11). This beast performs miracles and "deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast ..." (verses 13-14).

These verses describe that great religious deceiver who is referred to as "the false prophet" in Revelation 19:20. His influence will be enormous. "He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name" (Revelation 13:16-17). Also, he "causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast ..." (verse 12).

By throwing the full force of his deceptive religious power behind the sociopolitical schemes of the first beast, this false prophet will be the one primarily responsible for persuading humanity to accept and support this major development in the world's economic and political structure. Those who acquiesce will be enslaving themselves to the state.
The Global Economy and Jesus Christ's Return
What possible connection could Christ's return have with the global marketplace?
by Roger Foster

Revelation, the last book of the Bible, is the only New Testament book specifically devoted to prophecy. It is literally "the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants-things which must shortly take place" (Revelation 1:1).

The 18th chapter describes a dominant system of international trade supported by corrupt political and religious hegemonies whose "sins have reached to heaven" (verse 5). But the Bible shows that the return of Jesus Christ will signal this system's collapse and destruction.

This system will exercise, for a short time, such control over the lives of the earth's inhabitants that "no one may buy or sell" without its permission (Revelation 13:17). This economic system will stringently regulate commerce.

In our society, which greatly values individual freedom, it seems almost absurd to predict such a drastic global change in economic outlook and practice. What could possibly induce the citizens of civilized nations to accept such intrusive controls over their right to buy and sell as they please?

Today @ This is the way...

Hi readers,
Sometimes acceptance is the only course of action we can take.

Clyde and Dee Kilough

Inextricably Inexorable

The word inexorable is used to describe that which we cannot prevent. In our life, we come across a number of such things. The old familiar standbysdeath and taxesare inexorable, along with the rising of the sun and moon and the coming of ocean tides.

These occurrences we must accept as beyond our control. We can do this gracefully and wisely or we can kick and screambut either way, they will continue.

The preacher of Ecclesiastes acknowledged the inexorable when he explained that there are seasons and times for everything. Chapter 3 of the book is well worth reading and thinking about. Verse 14 says: Whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it.

We have a mind that needs to be trained to accept the inexorable things of life. Choose grace, dignity and wisdom in your daily walk with God. When the inexorable comes, you can bear it.

KILL FOR PEACE: A HUMANE POLICY?/ DO NOT FORGET SCRIPTURE LOOK ABOVE AT THIS PICTURE AND REMEMBER !!!!!
By Professor Paul Eidelberg

NewsWithViews.com

If there is a single power Israel underestimates it is the power of collective hatred, meaning the hatred that animates the Arab-Islamic world.

Israel’s ruling elites do not understand the delicious appeal of hatred. They will not face the fact that man is a killer. They have learned nothing from the genocidal wars and wholesale massacres of the twentieth century.

There is at least a minority of human beings who enjoy killing. That minority may be small, but it does not take many enthusiastic killers to trigger a genocidal war. The Arab Palestinian Authority consists of such killers. Indeed, they have educated a generation of Arab children to become killers.

Nevertheless, Israel’s government sends its soldiers into conflict or harms way in which the rules imposed on them leave them practically defenseless, or ensures unnecessary Jewish casualties.

Israel plays by rules, some encoded in its own laws or in international laws, others in long-established customs, which are part of the West’s collective consciousness. But Israel’s enemies don’t give a damn about our laws and customs.

Again and again we find that hard-won treaties or agreements mean nothing to our enemies. While Israel is word-oriented, its enemies are action-oriented. Israelis, like Americans, mirror-image and think that their enemies are like them, that they want peace, even though they have repeatedly said, “peace means the destruction of Israel.” Israelis live in a state of denial.

Even the terms used to describe the enemy—“terrorists” or “Islamic fundamentalists”—are misleading. Such terms hinder the political and military echelons from developing an appropriate strategy against the enemy. Former U.S. army intelligence officer Ralph Peters calls these terrorists “warriors.” He speaks of various types of warriors—because if we do not understand the enemy, we won’t win the war against them.

   * One pool of warriors comes from the underclass, a male who has no stake in peace, a loser with little education and little legal earning power. It’s easy to recruit such warriors against the Great or against the Little Satan. These warriors are bloody savages.
   * A second pool of warriors consists of youth and young men who join and fight for the Arab cause. Their savagery increases with the duration and intensity of the conflict.
   * A third pool of warriors consists of opportunists, entrepreneurs who profit from the conflict. They traffic in arms and drugs. Their great strength is their cynicism. The Palestinian kleptocracy—once Arafat, now Mahmoud Abbas and Ismael Haniyeh—belong to this pool. They are chameleons and very dangerous. This type of warrior is the most likely to be underestimated, especially by wishful thinking Jews.
   * A fourth pool of warriors consists of true believers like Osama bin Laden. These warriors fight out of religious conviction and become infected with bloodlust. They are the products of a failed civilization that blames the Americans or Zionists for its inability to adapt to modernity and compete with the West. They burn with resentment and the desire for revenge.

But the greatest danger to Israel is when the cynic is working together with the true believer.

All of these warriors are habituated to violence; they have no stake in civil order. Unlike soldiers, they do not play by the rules of the Geneva Convention; they do not respect human life; and they regard compromise as equivalent to prostitution. Negotiation with warriors is sheer folly. We should not negotiate with them until they surrender. Until then, they must be killed.

Unfortunately, Israelis, like Americans, believe that all men want peace, that all conflict can be resolved through compromise and understanding. But many men have no stake in peace. Many would be bored by peace, and would lose honor or be out a job with peace. You find such men in the Palestinian Authority—in Fatah, Tanzim, Hamas, Hizbullah, Islamic Jihad.

   * Israeli opinion-makers refuse to believe that many human beings thrive and profit on disorder and on killing other human beings.
   * Americans profit from peace; warriors profit from war, and Israelis suffer the consequences.

As Peters points out, we refuse to understand that certain human beings cannot accept that their culture is failing. These human beings do not realize that they are failing individually because of the mode of thought and behavior to which their culture has conditioned them. They want someone to blame, and they want revenge on that someone.

But our intellectual elites—the educators of our politicians and judges—are so conditioned by the moral relativism that permeates all levels of education in the democratic world that they cannot think of a failed culture such as Islam. They would accuse me of racism. One does not have to be a racist to recognize that Israel’s Janus-faced enemies are killers.

Israel faces an enemy whose sole motivation to refrain from killing is the fear of being killed; but since many of them love of death, the only deterrent is to kill them in sufficient numbers before they kill us. It is the only rational and humane policy, the only policy that can lead to genuine peace. It was the policy of the United States in the Second World War, in consequence of which both Germany and Japan, contrary to their warlike heritage, are now peace-loving nations.

"Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread"

Commentary by Peter Hawkins
United Church of God pastor, the British Isles

Give Us This Day Our Daily BreadThe title above is part of the well-known prayer—often called "The Lord's Prayer"—that Jesus Christ taught His disciples.

Surprisingly, it is also the title of the lead article in the February edition of The Middle East magazine. The magazine cover promoted the article with the following banner: "Why rich countries are buying the world's most fertile land."

Countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Libya and Iran are oil-rich but short of arable land, causing them and other Middle Eastern countries to look for hundreds of thousands of acres abroad to insure their long-term food security. Brazil and Indonesia are among the targeted nations.

The article also indicates that Britain and the European Union are "pressuring poorer states, particularly in Africa, to allow them to operate on their farmland and to fish their coastal waters."

There could be some dangerous international consequences from this quest for land beyond national borders. In the past, poor crops because of changing climate conditions have caused vast populations to invade fertile countries in their quest for food. Rarely have these intrusions remained peaceful.

Nearly 4,000 years ago God used Joseph, the great grandson of Abraham, to store food for Egypt and surrounding nations for a time of severe food shortages. He revealed to Joseph that seven bountiful harvests would be followed by seven years of drought. This foresight to store food allowed many people in the Middle East to be fed during a time regional famine.

Here in the United Kingdom the recent economic troubles started about the same time we began abandoning our traditional values. We have forsaken the Bible as the standard by which our values should be measured. We have also overlooked the biblical prophecies concerning the British people that clarify why we became so influential in the world as a global empire and how we can be secure today.

Sadly, we now swing between two extremes: (1) feeling guilty for having built an empire with colonies that spread the English language around the world, and (2) pride in thinking that our former blessings were the result of our own prowess. Let's consider where all of this, especially our departure from godly values, could lead us.

The experience of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon as recorded in Daniel 4:28-30 provides us with an important lesson. Daniel had warned the King that his kingdom would go to another ruler if he didn't break off his sinful conduct. Instead of humbling himself, Nebuchadnezzar contemplated his own greatness. Twelve months later as he "was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, he said, 'Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?'" Shortly thereafter he lost his kingdom and for seven years ate grass like an animal before his sanity and kingdom were restored (verses 33-37).

Nebuchadnezzar's experience illustrates what can happen when we ignore the instructions of our Creator. Today many of us live in city environments, extremely vulnerable to broken supply chains and unable to grow our basic food needs. Overnight, we—like King Nebuchadnezzar—could experience dire circumstances.

Today the economy is sliding toward a time of trouble comparable to the 1930s. If this downward slide continues, the enormity of debt now evident throughout Europe will tempt governments to print devalued money and repeat the hyper-inflation that plagued all of Europe during the Great Depression.

That in turn will produce a political environment favourable for the rise of extreme political parties concerned with national stability and economic protectionism. Add to this the fact that as America's new president prepares to withdraw much of the U.S. military from troubled areas, a power vacuum could emerge that Europe would try to fill for the sake of its own security.

This brings us back to the contrast between turning to God to provide our daily bread as Jesus taught in the model prayer, and The Middle East magazine's focus on nations scrambling to secure food supplies by taking over agricultural land in other nations.

When Jesus walked this earth the Romans were in control of the land of Israel and took many resources from that country to supply the Empire's needs. When famine hit the Middle East in the first century it became very difficult for the average Christian in Jerusalem to survive (Acts 11:28-30).

Could we, like the early Christians, again become desperate for basic daily needs such as food and water? That possibility is frighteningly real.

How America lost its way and freedom

"‘Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past,' repeated Winston obediently."[1] George Orwell's 1984

"The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new - the rotting corpse of Christianity... and the new faith of humanism."[2] The Humanist

"...a reconfigured collective memory will also allow individuals to see their personal experiences differently and place events... in a new matrix of meaning."[3] Memory and Power in Post-war Europe

"As the memory of the Christian base grows ever dimmer, freedom will disintegrate.... The [old] system will not simply go on, divorced from its founding roots."[4] Francis Schaeffer, How Should We Then Live

My favorite book as a child was a Norwegian translation of an old British book titled The Wide Wide World. It tells about a young girl sent to live with a distant aunt after the death of her mother. Since Ellen had already learned to trust Jesus, she knew He was with her in the midst of her dark and lonely surroundings. She saw His love in amazing ways -- especially through a kind young woman who used every painful hurdle in Ellen's early life to point her to God's ever-present comforts.

Since my family rarely mentioned God in those days, this book opened my eyes to His loving sovereignty. It became my life-line to His special strength during Norway's post-war years. And when we moved to America, it was the main treasure I brought with me.

Such books may soon be forgotten -- banished by a law that prohibits the sale of children's books published before 1985. The justification for such an outrageous decree is that the print might contain a tiny amount of lead. Testing books for lead is prohibitively expensive. According to an article titled, The New Book Banning,

"no one seems to have been able to produce a single instance in which an American child has been made ill by the lead in old book illustrations—not surprisingly, since unlike poorly maintained wall paint, book pigments do not tend to flake off in large lead-laden chips for toddlers to put into their mouths."[5]

Could political goals have prompted this specific ban? I don't know. [see note] But if I were a postmodern change agent, I would want to hide old books that refresh young minds with moral absolutes and the unadulterated memories of our historical roots. Truth and freedom are incompatible with today's evolving standards for global solidarity.

Today's Christian books are different. Actual Scriptures are usually missing, and new marketing schemes have led even Christian publishers to adapt their books to postmodern demands. Since entertainment is vital to sales, their new children's books often show silly images of our holy God -- designed to amuse, not show reverence. We seem to have forgotten God's admonitions:

"I will not let them profane My holy name anymore." --Ezekiel 39:7

CHANGING OUR MEMORIES

Nothing speeds America's memory loss faster than its spreading boundaries for Biblical truth. And it's no accident that today's emphasis on politically correct tolerance rarely applies to Christians.

Like Obama's Faith-Based Partnership, our schools and colleges are silencing "faith-based" expressions. So when little Sallie wanted to tell her friend about Jesus, the principal scolded her. When Antonio included a small drawing of Jesus in an Earth Day picture (after all, He made the earth) the bewildered kindergartner faced humiliation. Do you wonder what happened to their free speech?

When Christian words are confined to homes and churches (or dismissed altogether), they soon fade from public awareness. Francis Schaeffer, founder of L'Abri, saw the coming amnesia more than thirty years ago. In How Should We Then Live, he described the consequences:

"As the Christian consensus dies, there are not many sociological alternatives. One possibility is hedonism, in which every man does his own thing. Trying to build a society on hedonism leads to chaos....

"In the days of a more Christian culture, a lone individual with the Bible could judge and warn society, regardless of the majority vote, because there was an absolute by which to judge. There was an absolute for both morals and law. But to the extent that the Christian consensus is gone, this absolute is gone as a social force."

"Much of the church is no help... because for so long a large section of the church has only been teaching a relativistic humanism using religious terminology."[7]

Why didn't we notice it sooner? What are the consequences of such blindness? Shaeffer explains:

"We see two effects of our loss of meaning and values.... [First] degeneracy, decadence, depravity, a love of violence for violence’s sake.... [Second] Society cannot stand chaos. Some group or some person will fill the vacuum."

"At that point the words left or right will make no difference. They are only two roads to the same end. There is no difference between an authoritarian government from the right or the left: the results are the same. An elite, an authoritarianism as such, will gradually force [a totalitarian] form on society so that it will not go on to chaos.... And most people will accept it... That is just what Rome did...."

"Will the West be able to stand against the totalitarian nations now that the Christian base of the Western freedoms is largely gone? Obviously this could be related to... the possibility of economic breakdown in the West."[8]

WRITING NEW RULES FOR THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY

"Let us remember," wrote Francis Schaeffer, "...Hitler was perfectly entitled to do as he wished, if he had the popular support."[9]

Hitler did have the needed support. His rousing oratory persuaded the masses, and his brutal paramilitary "Brownshirts" quenched opposition. His pragmatic orders and Darwinian values became the new absolutes. "On this basis," continued Schaeffer,

"it would become 'right' to kill the old, the incurably ill, the insane -- and other groups could be declared non-persons. No voice could be raised against it."[9]

Could that happen here? Yes! When nations ignore Christian values, life becomes cheap and expendable. Consider the new Oregon Health Plan:

"The plan ranks various surgeries and diseases and conditions in order of importance and places abortion high on the list.... 'the rapid and complete treatment of medically correctable problems and diseases' are now lower."[10]

President Obama’s stimulus bill is even more alarming. In an article titled, "Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan," we read:

"Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system.... One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and 'guide' your doctor’s decisions. ... Hospitals and doctors that are not 'meaningful users' of the new system will face penalties.

"'Meaningful user' isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose 'more stringent measures of meaningful use over time.'... In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the 'tough' decisions elected politicians won’t make....He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept 'hopeless diagnoses' and 'forgo experimental treatments,' and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system."[11]

Few books illustrate this materialistic view of human life more vividly than the popular classroom novel, The Giver, winner of the 1994 Newbery Medal. It immerses sixth graders into a totalitarian world where children are born to professional "birth mothers." The newborns are placed in Nurturing Centers where older children help care for them during their mandatory service hours. To free the community from stress, handicapped babies and low-weight twins are "released" to go to a mystical "Elsewhere."[12]

At age twelve, Jonas and the other "young adults" receive their permanent service Assignments from "Elders" who observe and assess each child. Jonas, who had intuitive power to "see beyond," is chosen to be the Receiver of Memories -- the only one who would actually know the past. The previous Receiver now becomes the Giver, who transfers all past memories to the boy. Eventually, Jonas would become the community's only source of historical information.

The Giver fits into the flood of classroom literature that forces children to think the unthinkable, dialogue [see dialectic process] with their classmates, and re-evaluate the Christian values they learned at home. Dismissing the past, this book suggests a "safe" and benevolent future -- an Orwellian "common good" that brings unthinkable "common" restraints!

Such "common good" means government surveillance and control over everything -- health, attitudes, beliefs, values, parenting and work assignment. [13] Yet God still reigns!

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine...? [In] all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Romans 8:35-37

REDEFINING "CHRISTIAN" IN A POSTMODERN CONTEXT

Our president calls himself a "Christian." But what does that word mean in today's diverse culture?

When people forget God's standard for truth and error, how do they define "Christian"? In the light of current cultural standards, a good "Christian" would apparently have to believe in a universal "God" and be tolerant (toward all that conflicts with God's guidelines), accepting, always ready to compromise for the sake of an illusive "common good."

How does that view match the Bible? How does it fit Obama? Ponder his description of his faith in this 2004 interview with Cathleen Falsani:

OBAMA: I am a Christian. So, I have a deep faith.... On the other hand, I was born in Hawaii where obviously there are a lot of Eastern influences.... I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people....

FALSANI: Have you always been a Christian?

OBAMA: I was raised more by my mother and my mother was Christian. ...a deeply spiritual person, and would spend a lot of time talking about values and give me books about the world's religions....

FALSANI: So you got yourself born again?

OBAMA: Yeah.... And I'm not somebody who is always comfortable with language that implies I've got a monopoly on the truth.... I'm a big believer in tolerance....

FALSANI: Do you have people in your life that you look to for guidance?

OBAMA: Well, my pastor [Jeremiah Wright] is certainly someone who I have an enormous amount of respect for.... I am a follower, as well, of our civic religion. I am a big believer in the separation of church and state.... I am a great admirer of our founding charter... and its resolve to prevent disruptive strains of fundamentalism from taking root in this country....

FALSANI: Do you believe in heaven?

OBAMA: Do I believe in the harps and clouds and wings? ...if I live my life as well as I can... I will be rewarded....

FALSANI: What is sin?

OBAMA: Being out of alignment with my values....

FALSANI: ...An example of a role model, who combined everything you said you want to do in your life, and your faith?

OBAMA: I think Gandhi is a great example of a profoundly spiritual man who... never slipped into intolerance or dogma."[14]

LOOKING AHEAD

As history repeats itself, the old crumbling foundations are replaced with flexible ideals, tempting illusions, and a bewildering scaffold of unthinkable controls. Typical of Marxism, America's new "freedom" is reserved for supporters of the system, not resisters. Even churches are touting heresies and "tolerating" immorality. No wonder we face uncertainty, chaos and temptations to conform!

Long ago, God warned us about such a time:

"...they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools." Romans 1:20-22

"My people would not heed My voice.... So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, to walk in their own counsels. Oh, that My people would listen to Me...." Psalm 81:11-14

To those who do listen, God promises victory and peace -- even in the midst of the turmoil:

"Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
                                                                   Satanic Trinity
Satan is the great imitator. As believers, we are united with Jesus, we are His Body and we are one. Satan tries to achieve the same unity through the cooperation of the beast, the false prophet, and the use of the mark. Each serves to solidify Satan's consolidated world.

We are not ignorant of Satan's devices; we understand his purpose. He is building a great global world of peace and prosperity: the great Counterfeit imitation. Consequently, with the exception of the elect, he will deceive all mankind.

It should not come as any surprise that Scripture reveals a satanic trinity documented in Revelation 16:13: "And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet."

The dragon Imitates or Counterfeits the Father, the beast Imitates or Counterfeits the Son, and the false prophet Imitates or Counterfeits the Holy Spirit of God.

What is their intention? "For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty" (Revelation 16:14). It is important to emphasize that the entire world is involved. This line of thought corresponds with Psalm 2:1-2: "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed...." It doesn't matter where you live or what form of government rules your country, all are represented by "...the kings of the earth."
THESE MEN OF EVIL INTENT ALONG WITH OTHER FOLLOWERS OF SATAN. WILL SAY "GOOD IS BAD AND BAD IS GOOD".! SO SAID THE LORD.!

Hitler has only got one bull (and it's alive and well in the West Country)

Ancient breed resurrected by Nazis to 'purify' the countryside set up home here

By Cahal Milmo, Chief Reporter

Wednesday, 22 April 2009

'Hitler wanted to recreate the aurochs to evoke the power of Germanic legends' says Derek Gow, farmer of rare breed.

Hitler wanted them to be Aryan cows – ancient beasts resurrected from a time before Europe was populated by "racially degenerate" wildlife.

Hermann Goering was so keen to recreate the one-time prey of Roman hunters that he employed two Nazi scientists to breed the once mighty aurochs back into existence.

The project seemed to have ended with the Second World War when nearly all the cattle kept in Berlin and Munich's zoos were destroyed.

But some 70 years later, the fruit of this deluded labour to bring back to life the gargantuan bovines which roamed Eurasia can now be found peacefully chewing the cud in a few fields on the Devon-Cornwall border.

A herd of 13 Heck cattle, named after the two German zoologist brothers who bred the long-horned, stocky cattle in the Nazi-funded project, has been acquired by a West Country conservationist as part of a rare breeds farm.

Derek Gow, who already has a collection of beavers, polecats and water voles, bought the nine cows and four bulls from a Belgian conservation park which had bred a herd of the shaggy Heck cattle from the few surviving animals left in Munich's Hellabrunn Zoo after 1945.

Mr Gow, 44, who runs a farm at Lifton, near Dartmoor, said: "The Nazis wanted to recreate the aurochs to evoke the power of the folklores and legends of the Germanic peoples. Between the two wars there was thinking that you could selectively breed animals – and indeed people – for Aryan characteristics that were rooted in runes and folklore. Young men hunted these bulls as preparation for battle and leadership in war. Hunting was a very big part of what people like Goering did. This was something that was considered very manly to do."

The aurochs, which weighed up to a tonne and were up to two metres high, was lauded by Julius Caesar as being "a little below the elephant in size" with "extraordinary strength and speed". The animals were hunted into extinction across most of Europe by the 16th century with just a few remaining in early Polish zoos by the 1700s.

Such was the obsession of Goering – the head of the Luftwaffe and Hitler's designated successor – with reproducing a menagerie of ancient "noble" animals to be pursued by the Nazi high command on his personal hunting reserves in Prussia and modern-day Poland that he personally authorised Heinz and Lutz Heck to pursue their programme, begun in the 1930s, to "breed back" through existing cattle varieties to create an aurochs.

Heinz Heck, the director of the Munich zoo who with his brother was an admirer of Eugen Fischer, one of the fathers of the Nazi pseudo-science of race, set about cross-breeding strains including Highland cattle, Freisians and even Corsican cows. Lutz Heck, who ran Berlin's main zoo, crossed Spanish fighting bulls with other breeds and, along with Heinz's cows, the resulting cattle were declared to be the resurrection of the aurochs.

The Munich-based brother wrote after the war that he prized the brute power of his creation, which he said "must be eager to fight to the death". It is now accepted that the Heck cows, some of which were sent to Goering's private shooting estate south of Berlin, were in reality genetically far removed from the aurochs and the brothers had succeeded in creating only a facsimile of the primitive cow. Modern genetics has long established the impossibility of recreating an extinct species.

But Mr Gow strongly denies that his animals are besmirched by their Nazi associations, saying their hardiness means they could eventually be allowed to roam freely like the aurochs.

"I don't think there is anything more sinister in owning Heck cattle than there is driving a Volkswagen," he said. "They were a fantasy breed. But they are also quality cattle and a pedigree breed that is remarkably robust. They could one day be returned to a wild environment and become one of the big super-animals that roamed the forests."

Roger Tolces, a private investigator with Electronic Security Company who specializes in surveillance countermeasures, was the guest on Noory's "Coast to Coast AM" June 12, 2003. He outlined a variety of ways in which US citizens' privacy rights have been eroded since the passing of the Patriot Act. "They can throw a switch and listen to all your phone calls, or gain access to your computer," he said, explaining that government or law enforcement no longer has to seek judicial authorization for many kinds of taps.

It becomes a "question of who the real crooks and criminals are," Tolces said as he detailed an astonishing array of electronic harassment devices that he has found evidence for through his work with his clients. Many of these people have told him they feel as though they are being used as guinea pigs in covert experiments. One device, which could also be classified as a non-lethal weapon, is a microwave energy beam, that can "make people hear voices in their head," Tolces said. The voices might be used to direct the subjects to commit suicide, he added.

Tolces said he has also been able to detect biochips implanted in some of his clients' heads, that could possibly be used as tracking devices.

Recently NewsWithViews.com dispatched a reporter to attend a press conference regarding new legislation proposed that will be used to regulate free speech and expression on the Internet.

Congress will soon debate a bill that could lead to regulating the Internet in the name of protecting the children.

Representative Linda Sanchez (D-CA) and 12 other lawmakers have signed onto a bill being considered by the House of Representatives' Judiciary Committee Congress which may seriously threaten the First Amendment rights of every American who uses the Internet, blogs online, uses Twitter, Facebook and other social media.

The bill (HR 1966) proposes up to two years in prison for those whose electronic speech is meant to “coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person." Regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum the potential harm of this bill on our freedom of speech will be massive.

"What this bill is really designed to do is to go after and prosecute Bible believing Christians and those who speak out against homosexuality, gay marriage, and pro abortion advocates" said a NWV reader.

While some may argue it's farfetched, the proposed law as written may be used to stifle communication by citizens to their elected officials including the White House and the US Congress.

Sanchez, and the 14 other lawmakers who signed on to the proposal, are grandstanding to show the public they care about children and are opposed to cyberbullying, according to Wired Magazine's David Kravits.

The Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act was created to target the behavior that led to last year’s suicide of the 13-year-old Meier.

In response to Meier’s suicide, prosecutors turned to an anti-hacking statute, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and prosecuted Lori Drew. She was accused of violating MySpace’s terms of service agreement in what prosecutors said was a complex conspiracy to harass Meier via a fake MySpace online profile.

A federal jury convicted Lori Drew of three misdemeanor charges of computer fraud, but rejected felony charges and was deadlocked on a conspiracy charge, according to the New York Times.

The defendant, a teenager herself, received probation and a fine which outraged many.As a result some lawmakers believed additional legislation is necessary to ensure future defendants will be more strenuously prosecuted.

According the the proposed legislation, the US Congress found that:

(1) Four out of five of United States children aged 2 to 17 live in a home where either they or their parents access the Internet.

(2) Youth who create Internet content and use social networking sites are more likely to be targets of cyberbullying.

(3) Electronic communications provide anonymity to the perpetrator and the potential for widespread public distribution, potentially making them severely dangerous and cruel to youth.

(4) Online victimizations are associated with emotional distress and other psychological problems, including depression.

(5) Cyberbullying can cause psychological harm, including depression; negatively impact academic performance, safety, and the well-being of children in school; force children to change schools; and in some cases lead to extreme violent behavior, including murder and suicide.

(6) Sixty percent of mental health professionals who responded to the Survey of Internet Mental Health Issues report having treated at least one patient with a problematic Internet experience in the previous five years; 54 percent of these clients were 18 years of age or younger.

Section 881(a) reads: "Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."

According to the Wired Magazine alert, Sanchez’s bill goes way beyond cyberbullying and "comes close to making it a federal offense to log onto the Internet or use the telephone."

The methods of communication where hostile speech is banned include e-mail, instant messaging, blogs, websites, telephones and text messages.

"We can’t say what we think of Sanchez’s proposal. Doing so would clearly get us two years in solitary confinement," wrote Wired Magazine's David Kravits

Britain: ISSE to hold meetings on Charles Darwin
9 May 2009

This month, the International Students for Social Equality in Britain are holding a series of meetings to mark the anniversary year of Charles Darwin—2009 marks 200 years since the birth of Darwin and 150 years since the publication of On the Origin of Species.

The meetings are being held in Sheffield on May 13, Manchester on May 15, London on May 19 and Brighton on May 20 (full details below).

We invite all students, young people and readers of the World Socialist Web Site to attend these meetings, where we will look at the connection between Darwin and Karl Marx. When Marx read On the Origin of Species he wrote, “Darwin’s work is most important and suits my purpose in that it provides a basis in natural science for the historical class struggle.”

So impressed was Marx by Darwin’s work that he sent an inscribed copy of the second edition of Das Kapital to Darwin when it was published in 1873.

At Marx’s graveside his friend Friedrich Engels declared, “Just as Darwin discovered the law of evolution in organic nature, so Marx discovered the law of evolution in human history; he discovered the simple fact, hitherto concealed by an overgrowth of ideology, that humankind must first of all eat and drink, have shelter and clothing, before it can pursue politics, science, art, religion, etc.; and that therefore the production of the immediate material means of life and consequently the degree of economic development attained by a given people or during a given epoch form the foundation upon which the state institutions, the legal conceptions, the art and even the religious ideas of the people concerned have been evolved, and in the light of which these things must therefore be explained, instead of vice versa as had hitherto been the case.”

These two giants of science defined the modern era and the full implication of their work is only just beginning to become apparent today. Evolution has come into its own with the discovery of DNA and, despite opposition from religious fundamentalists, has become an essential part of our everyday lives and experience. Marx has long been dismissed as outmoded, particularly since the collapse of the Soviet Union, but his work has taken on a new relevance as the world financial system implodes and the economy descends into an unparalleled depression.

This talk will examine the ideas of both these seminal thinkers, drawing out the common themes that animate their work and exploring their significance for the present day.

Chris Talbot, the speaker at these meetings, writes for the World Socialist Web Site on science, philosophy and contemporary politics.

Turkey and the EU
Where will it end?

Date: 3/26/2009

The relationship between the European Union and Turkey can often seem like two thirteen year-old kids at a junior-high dance: they know they're supposed to be dancing, but it’s painfully awkward, and frankly, someone’s going to get their toes stepped on. Like all dances, the original idea sounded like a good one, as by joining the EU Turkey was supposed to become a shining example of a Muslim nation that is also a western style democracy, ideally situated on the edge of the Middle East. But as time has progressed it would appear that the matter may end disappointingly.

When visiting Istanbul one can have the impression that indeed Turkey does deserve admittance to a club of western, modern democracies. However, if you get out of the posh sections of Taksim or the tourist areas of Sultanahmet, and venture into the poorer, western sections of the city, the contrasts between Europe and Turkey become quite stark. Headscarves and full body coverings for the women are the norm in those areas, men too are in traditional garb and the levels of poverty are noticeably higher. This is just Istanbul, however, which is widely seen as the most progressive area of Turkey. The interior of Anatolia is known to be home to a much more conservative population which means that the differences between Europe and Turkey become even more pronounced there.

It is these more conservative elements of society which have lent their support to the strongest political movement in Turkey, the AK or Justice and Development Party. Led by Recip Erdogan, the AK party presents itself as a moderate, but still conservative party which appeals to the Islamic sensibilities of the population. As prime-minister for Turkey, Mr. Erdogan has developed an image of a well intentioned reformer. However, his recent history paints a different story, one of a more radical, and Islamicist politician who once proclaimed in a public speech, “The Islamic nation is waiting for the rise of the Muslim Turkish nation. We will. This rebellion will start”. Mr. Erdogan was also sentenced to a jail term for what were considered actions that subverted the Turkish secular state in 1998.

The ties between the AK party and past Islamic extremists are well known. It has its roots in what was previously known as the Welfare Party, a now banned Islamic political party which was declared illegal in 1998. The Welfare Party was forced out of government in the late 90s under pressure by the one institution within Turkish society which acts as the ultimate bulwark against Islamic radicalization, the Turkish military. The military’s objection to Welfare’s government arose due to what were then perceived as attempts by the party to turn the country in a radical, Islamic direction. Turkey’s generals see themselves as the guardians of the legacy of modern Turkey’s founder, Attaturk, who instituted numerous reforms within the nation geared towards limiting Islamic influence and instigating modernity. There is no doubt today, that the Turkish officer corps is the major reason why the AK Party is cautious in regard to its fundamentalist ideals.

In relation to the European Union, however, the AK Party has been enthusiastically pushing for entry to the club. It at first may seem strange for a traditionalist party with ties to Islamic fundamentalism to be desiring entry to what, for all intents and purposes, appears to be a grouping of largely “Christian” or secular nations. On the other hand this policy might serve to actually cause Turkey to move away from ties to the west and towards a more Islamic orientation. There are at least two reasons for this.

First, Turkey cannot enter the European Union without proving-up its democratic credentials. It is inconceivable for a member state in the European Union to allow the military to have a role in political affairs. Therefore, entry into the Union will mean that the Turkish state must be reformed so that the military is forced out of politics completely. While this may enhance Turkey’s democratic credentials in the short term, it also removes the one institution within the country which has prevented the rise of pro-Islamic parties in the past. The current government, whose members have a history of antagonism towards the secular military establishment, could bring about changes which would limit the military's influence under the guise of preparing the nation to join the EU.

Second, rejected lovers are notoriously resentful, and while Turkey may be enthusiastic to join the EU, the affection does not run both ways. Germany for one and France for another, are two, big countries within Europe which range from being lukewarm about Turkey to dead-set against membership. The other member states of the EU are hardly enthusiastic about the idea, and recent polls put opinion on the European street at even lower levels. The chances do not look good for a Turkish bid for EU membership, which means that rejection is likely. One can only imagine how such an insult would play on the streets of Istanbul. Certainly a “No” from Europe would undermine any sense of Turkish solidarity with the secular nations of Europe; sentiments which play into the hands of those who wish to push Turkey towards Islamic extremism.

The EU is unenthusiastic about Turkey becoming a member, but nevertheless, the invitation to negotiate has been extended. The Turkish government has thus been in ongoing talks since the early 1990s with Brussels, meanwhile nations which are arguably less well-off economically, like Bulgaria and Romania, have been rushed into the club ahead of it. If indeed the dance continues to what would appear to be a surely inglorious end, then we may well see Turkey limp off the floor with its smarting toes, insulted, and intent on charting a different course for itself away from Europe altogether, and towards a more Islamic and extreme self-identity.
What is their intention? "For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty" (Revelation 16:14).
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the  Almighty." Revelation 1:8. N.K.J.V.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.    Galatians 6:7-9  (King James Version)

The United States rose up from a handful of rebellious colonies to become the richest and most powerful nation in the world. Why? Because we led the world in production. For 200 years, America delivered the goods.

But, in the 1970’s, all that suddenly changed. For the first time in history, the U.S. started having trade deficits. That means our net consumption exceeded our net production. And, every single year since 1975, our nation has consistently consumed more than it produced. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that’s not sustainable.

The depressing truth is America is no longer a world leader in production. We are trailing the pack. We are now a debtor nation, and our biggest creditor is China. -- What the hell happened? And how will we ever recover? And, the more disturbing question is, what will happen to America if we don’t?

If we ever want to restore America to its proper place in the world, the first thing we need to understand is why we no longer have a productive economy. It’s pretty simple, really. -- Because we no longer produce. Why not? – If we take a good hard look at the nature of production, maybe we can figure that out. The three key elements of production are capital, labor, and raw materials.

First, you need capital for research and development. To develop a new product that meets a real need in the marketplace takes a lot of research. It may take many years to develop. Research and development is extremely expensive, and there’s no guarantee of success. There has to be an enormous potential return on investment to justify that kind of risk.

That kind of return on investment is what our current administration refers to as “excessive profits.” And they have this notion that “excessive profits” should be punitively taxed. When government puts a lid on the potential for return on investment, what happens? The investors take their capital and invest it someplace else, -- someplace that welcomes production, and wants to build up their economy and provide employment for their population. (Unlike the United States, it would seem.)

The second thing you need for production is raw materials. No matter what you want to produce, you need some combination of raw materials to produce it, whether wood, paper, metal, glass, fiber, or petroleum products. All raw materials come from the earth; they don’t come out of the air, or some genius’ imagination, or the printing presses at the Federal Reserve. They all come out of the ground, either through timber, mining, or agriculture.

Here, in Southern Oregon, we live in one of the richest areas in the country, in terms of natural resources. We’re rich in timber. We’re rich in minerals. But, if this part of the country is so rich, why is it so poor? Why is unemployment so high? Because we’re not allowed to use the natural resources with which we’re abundantly blessed. Overregulation, and the endless environmental litigation it has spawned, has all but curtailed the timber and mining industries, -- the very industries that provide raw materials for every sort of production on which our economy relies. And the overregulation doesn’t stop there. It’s hobbling the manufacturing industries, too.

The third thing required for production is labor. We’ve actually got a surplus of that. Look at our unemployment numbers, nationwide. Private sector jobs are steadily declining because our industries are stymied by excessive regulation and punitive taxation. So how does our government address that issue? It tries to replace the jobs lost due to declining production by creating new jobs in the public sector.

The trouble is those jobs do nothing to restore our national productivity. Public sector jobs and service jobs don’t create any new wealth. They just swirl money around in the economy. And, as that money swirls around, more and more of it leaks out to other countries, as we buy foreign-made products because we can’t or don’t produce enough at home.

As the real wealth leaks out of our economy, the Fed prints up more and more new money, which only dilutes the value of the money we already have in circulation, leading to higher and higher inflation. As long as we consume more than we produce, there is no way to add real value back into our economy, and our currency will continue to lose whatever value it has. We must restore production to have a sustainable economy.

This country was founded on the sacred principles of liberty and freedom. Not just individual freedom, but economic freedom. America became a world leader because America delivered the goods. That’s what it’s all about. That’s what it’s always been about. We have to stay solvent to preserve our liberty. If our economy fails, we’ll lose our freedom. Stifling production smothers the economy. And that's what our government is doing.

Contact your Congressmen and Senators and tell them we want our economy back. Government can’t solve the problem. Government is the problem.

Two thirds of Christians in Britain do not think the Pope is a true Christian leader, according to a new poll.

The poll, conducted by ComRes, found that only 38 per cent of Christians surveyed agreed that “Catholic popes are true ambassadors of the Christian faith”. The figure dropped to 16 per cent among Baptists.

Several Protestant ministers – some of whom are involved in ecumenical work – said they were not surprised by the low level of support for the Pope.

They said that even Protestants who work with Catholics at a grassroots level are still likely to find the idea of papal authority “particularly difficult”…

The Rev Jeremy Brooks, the director of ministry at the Protestant Truth Society, said: “All true Protestants believe the papacy to be unbiblical, unnecessary and unhelpful. Churches governed by scripture alone rather than the traditions of men or the fashions of the moment are what broken Britain so desperately needs.”
